Introducing Tasklet: Automate your business with AI Agents

Shortwave is a great partner to pair with to get through your inbox — it can understand context, manage your inbox, write emails, and take actions across tools like Slack, Notion, and Asana — all with just a simple prompt. But we kept hearing the same request: Can't the AI just run automatically without me needing to ask it each time? Can't it just work on a schedule, or kick off automatically each time a new email arrives?

When we started building those features, we realized our AI agent technology could automate far more than just email. It could monitor feeds, manage data across apps, generate reports, handle routine business processes—the possibilities extended across your entire workflow. So we decided to take our agent technology and build something entirely new: a purpose-built automation product.

This new product is called Tasklet, and we're launching it today. Tasklet is a separate product from Shortwave designed for automation—it works 24/7 without your input, handling recurring tasks whether you're at your computer or not. Shortwave remains your AI email assistant, helping you manage your emails and get things done in your inbox. We're investing in both products because they solve different problems.

Just describe your automation in plain English

Tasklet is incredibly simple to use. Just tell the AI what you want to automate, and it will figure out how to connect to your tools, set everything up, and run on its own. It has access to thousands of pre-built integrations for popular services, can connect directly to any HTTP API (just provide your API key), supports custom MCP servers for specialized integrations, and can even use a computer to interact with any web service through a browser.

Tasklet doesn't just run once—it automates ongoing work through triggers. Set up scheduled triggers to run tasks daily, weekly, or on any custom schedule. Use email triggers to run automation whenever you receive emails or apply labels. Or configure webhook triggers to respond to events from any external service.

Here are some things you can try:

  • "Send me a daily briefing based on my calendar, inbox, and task list"
  • "When an email arrives with a support question, automatically check our FAQ in Notion and draft a reply if this is a known common question"
  • "Every morning at 6 AM summarize emails to support@ from the last 24 hours and email that to me & my team"
  • "Monitor Hacker News for posts related to our company and post them into our Slack channel"
  • "Once per week check my calendar for any upcoming birthdays and suggest some appropriate gifts"
